Melissa Perry represents individuals, public entities, and corporations in a range of civil litigation concerning First Amendment, employment, contract, trust and estate, trade secret, and other constitutional matters. Melissa is passionate about effective and persuasive communication through written and oral advocacy and has developed her practice in all stages of litigation at both the trial and appellate level.
Before joining Kerr & Wagstaffe, Melissa was a Law Fellow at Legal Aid at Work (formerly Legal Aid Society-Employment Law Center) in San Francisco, handling gender and disability discrimination cases.
Melissa graduated from Georgetown University Law Center. While at Georgetown, Melissa was a student attorney for the Domestic Violence Clinic, successfully representing clients in pre-trial negotiations and at trial. Melissa served as the Senior Notes Editor for the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law and Policy. She also externed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Office of Federal Operations, Lambda Legal, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, and Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund.
Prior to attending Georgetown, Melissa was a Teach For America corps member in Arkansas, teaching high school English Language Arts.
