Partner Jim Wagstaffe will teach the Oral Argument Practicum course at Stanford University on May 3rd. This simulation course expands on the skills developed in Federal Litigation and will give students the opportunity to argue and judge pretrial motions from actual federal court cases.

Partner Jim Wagstaffe spoke at the Association of Legal Administrators’ Annual Conference & Exposition at the Hawaii Convention Center on April 24th. The communication and organizational management session, “Distinction, Honor and Integrity in All That You Do” explored how going back to the basics and focusing on good character and integrity can strengthen an organization, and offered a plan of action to combat the negative forces in life.

Ivo Labar Spoke at Seminar Presented by The National Center for Victims of Crime

Kerr & Wagstaffe LLP partner Ivo Labar spoke on the panel, “Civil Justice for Victims of Crime in California,” at a seminar presented by The National Center for Victims of Crime Training Institute on April 16th at the Oakland Conference Center. The panelists addressed: civil options available to victims and what they gain through this process; where victims can find a lawyer; and the appropriate role of a victim service provider.

The seminar was attended by victim advocates working in government agencies and community-based organization, mental health service providers, law enforcement offices, social workers, sexual assault and forensic nurse examiners, prosecutors and probation and parole officers.

Ivo Labar to Speak at Insurance Seminar

Ivo Labar will speak at an insurance seminar on March 21, 2012 on the topic “Uncovering the ‘Cause’ of Damage.”  The seminar is presented by the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters and California Association of Public Insurance Adjusters in alliance with the First Party Claims Conference.  In prior years, Ivo has presented on other topics critical to insurance policyholders.

Adrian Sawyer Leads Trade Secret Litigation Panel

Kerr & Wagstaffe LLP partner Adrian J. Presentation to New Federal Judges' Program

On November 18, 2011 in Washington, D.C.  Jim Wagstaffe made his annual presentation to the incoming class of newly appointed Federal Judges on Subject Matter Jurisdiction and Other Federal Procedures.  Jim’s class was one day of a week-long orientation educational program hosted by the Federal Judicial Center for all new federal district court judges followed by a welcoming dinner hosted by the U.S. Supreme Court. Jim, who has been making this presentation for federal judges at this program and across the country for over 20 years, was presented with the prestigious John R. Brown Award for excellence in federal judicial education.
